Leadership Training, 14 - 17 May, 2007

There were 16 female and 3 male participants attended the Leadership Training, representing the Womens group, women in politic parties and youth. There is a total of 16 groups most of which comes from the women groups. The objectives of the training were to introduce the definition concepts about Management Leadership, public speaking, self-confidence, and decision-making. Four materials that facilitators presented are Definition of Leadership Management, Leader in taken decision making, conflict and resolution and public speaking

Public speaking presentation Photos together with participants ![]() Need Assessment in Ermera and Aileu Districts on 4th - 6th and 10th - 12th March 2009 The objective of the Needs Assessment was to identify the groups and gather information about target group activities and the business plan. Based on this assessment FKSH determined which will become as the new focus microenterprise groups under the FKSH program. The criteria are principally that the groups have a clear activity plan, structure, and lack opportunity to access loans from other sources such as NGOs and institutions. FKSH informed the Deputy Administrator of Ermera and Administrator of Aileu about its “Women in development program” and consulted them about the groups that FKSH may help. In Ermera, we had meeting with the 4 new groups with activities such as sewing, sell coffee, weaving. In Aileu we had meeting with three groups, two of which participated in the FKSH training program and one new group. Their activities are bakery, plant and sell vegetable and making carrot cheeps. We used a questionnaire and informal workshop interviews to gather information about the group’s activities. Result: Based on the need assessment FKSH determined to choose two groups from Ermera district and three groups in Aileu district to become FKSH’s focus group. For the other groups FKSH committed to involve them in the training program. In Ermera district the groups that will participated in the focus micro enterprise groups under FKSH program are Centro Haburas Talento and Haklean Moris.The Centro Haburas Talento (CHT)-means Promote talent centre which established in August 2008. The group’s objective is to develop young women’s skill in Ermera district. Their activities are sewing and traditional medicine. There are nine members in the group, eight female and one male. The Haklean Moris (HM) – means Deep in Life was established on April 2009. The group’s objective is to improve the life of women. Their activities are sewing, weaving, and sell coffee. There are twenty members and all are female. In Aileu district, the groups that were chosen are AITSAR – the name of the group was coined after the two sub village name Aitoin Sarau, and they were established on October 2008. The objective is to establish and develop carrot chips production as a small scale industry. The Comunidade baziku Ismaik means Ismaik community base, established in 2004. Their activities are making traditional food and traditional medicine. There are 35 members in the group, all are female. The Foscaca Group is a village Youth Catholic organization established in 2007 with young male and female members. The key activities are Humanitarian and sport and fundraising by producing cakes and bakeshop. The five groups that were mentioned above are commitment and have initiative to help themselves through livelihood activities that will improve lives of nut just themselves but their family and their communities. These five groups tell that they really need FKSH technical assistant, training and funding support the need is great and the alternative forms. Through D&P fund, FKSH decided to focus on few groups so it can be more effective in terms of providing technical assistance and trainings, and link them with market outlets.
Skills training on sewing in Ermera district from 4th – 8th Of May 2009 The training objective was to enhance their creativity in formulating with new designs of their products. The 15 participants to the training came from Centro Haburas Talento (CHT), and Haklean Moris (HM). The main topic was on: theory of designing new model, and this was coupled with practice on how to cut a pattern of a bag, wallet, pen bag, hand phone bag and hat. The participants were lap able to produce 42 bags, 20 wallet and 12 pen bags, 10 hand phone bag, and 5 hats during the training. Some of these products were given to the participants and some to FKSH as samples that will be put in their display corner at the office.
. FKSH saw the motivation of the group during the training process. The trainees were very eager to learn sewing different types of products out of the Taiss cloth.
On 13 – 17 July FKSH conducted skill training on traditional food in Aileu district. 16 participants from three groups are Aitsar, Ismaik Baze and Foscaca attended the training on making traditional cake. The objective of the training was to introduce the importance of using local products to make traditional cake. The 14 kinds of traditional cakes introduced to the groups through theory and practice.
